Anurag came to Mumbai with 5,000 rupees

After completing his studies in 1993, Anurag joined the street theater group “Jana Natya Manch”. This year Anurag Kashyap came to Mumbai with 5000 rupees and when he ran out of money he would sleep sometimes on the beach, sometimes on the roadside. During this period, after hard work, he found work in the Prithvi Theater, but the dream of his first play remained forever unfulfilled due to the death of its director.

After that, in 1997, Anurag got a unique chance to write the screenplay for the series Kabhi Kabhi. However, a turning point in Anurag Kashyap’s life came when Manoj Bajpayee offered him to write a film titled Satya for Ram Gopal Varma. Released in 1998, the film was a smash hit at the box office. After that, Anurag Kashyap wrote the screenplays of many films. These include Shool, Jung, Nayak, etc.

In 2003, Anurag got into the field of film directing.
